Hussain Doshi Gufa

The Hussain-Doshi Gufa is an underground art gallery, exhibiting the works of great Indian sculpture and painter, M.F. Hussain. The Gufa lies within the vicinity of Center for Environmental Planning and Technology. It has a 25mm thin shell structure, supported by retaining boundary walls and sloping internal organically shaped columns.

This structure is a result of ferro - cement techniques and has been carried out with simple hand tools by unskilled workers. The marvel of contemporary architecture was built with the computer aided designs and hard work of tribal workers. The Gufa was decorated and designed by famous architect B. V. Doshi and hence called Hussain-Doshi Gufa.
