Calico Museum of Textiles

Calico Museum of Textiles is one of the finest specialized museums in India and is situated near Shahibaugh Palace at Ahmedabad. The museum was founded by Ms. Gira Sarabhai after making an exquisite collection of fabrics from different parts of India.

The museum is surrounded by beautiful gardens, courtyards and fountains which provide for a charming setting in and around this place. One can have of view of different kinds of woven fabrics: religious cloth, cloth used in royal courts and one used for manufacturing bags and bed sheets etc.

Each article kept in the museum can be studied for the technique used in its production. The type of cloth, its weaving, painting and embroideries with silk threads, beads, sequins and mirrors, are available here in great variety.
